Maze Maker Challenge!

This is the image for the news article titled Welcome Back! I've been waiting for a week to share this AWESOME news!!

During technology classes I often teach the students "coding". We use different educational coding apps to learn and practice getting different characters from one place to the next using sequences, conditions, loops, and functions. One of the apps we use is called "Kodable". Kodable takes you through a series of levels to learn the different components of coding. Students need to code our "Fuzz Family" characters through some mazes.

Kodable was hosting a "Maze Maker Challenge" and we were all SO excited about this opportunity. Students were able to create their very own maze in hopes for their maze to be a level on Kodable from now on! After students created a successful maze they were entered in the contest and other classmates' were able to try and solve their maze by coding.

The next step was to wait for the creators of Kodable to choose their favorites. The creators chose 20 final mazes to be voted on! There were over 30,000 submissions AND one of our very own students was chosen as a Top 20 Finalist! A big congratulations to Branden Callahan! I was FINALLY able to tell Branden this morning and his face was priceless! Way to go Branden!

Now it's time to vote!!! I'll be having students vote for his maze so we can get Branden's maze apart of Kodable for millions of students to play!

This has been an AMAZING experience for our students (and for me too). It has been a great way to show students that they can have an impact or even a career in the digital world. A lot of our students are quite passionate about coding and technology so for them to see all of this come to life is so exciting!
